In her youth, Feather performed her first solo a cappella vocal performance at the age of four, for six hundred Legionnaires and their families. Selected by a special children’s choir at the age of eight, due to her ability to hear and sing harmony, and chosen for numerous small group and solo competitions in high school, for flute and vocals, winning seven first place medals and three second place medals. At 15, she performed for an Easter Seals Radio-thon and was asked to join as a lead and back-up vocalist in a local country youth group name Herb Cresman and The Study Boys. At seventeen, Feather received a standing ovation for an original song performed for her local Miss County Pageant, securing her an audition with Johnny Cash. For personal reasons she did not attend this audition.

As an adult, Feather formed her own country band and played northern Wyoming for a few years, then moved to Colorado in 1976 and started her own singles act. She then paired up for four years with a very talented musician/songwriter named Murray Cohen, forming a light rock/jazz duo playing rhythm guitar, flute and lead /back-up vocals. Feather sang lead vocals for a pop group named Touch, a rock group named Legend, formed a rock group named Richter Scale and an all female Pop/Rock group named Cosmicon. At the age of 27, Jane Stanley and Rhythm Masters, a 50’s /Country band, hired her to play bass and sing back-ups, where she toured nation wide for the next 5 years. When Jane Stanley’s group disbanded, Feather reintroduced herself as a singles act to the Northern Colorado Restaurant and festival scene. In 1989, she created Chacoom, the hottest top 40/original rock group in Northern Colorado, where she played rhythm guitar, bass, flute, and sang lead/back-ups. The hard rock power trio, Chacoom could pack a club on a Monday night, performed for many venues with audiences in the thousands, including the Corn Roast, and was the first rock band to play the Larimer County Fair. Chacoom received an offer to play pre-shows in 1996, but the band fell apart. Feather procured an audition to play keyboards and sing back-up vocals for the Dixie Chicks, before they became famous, but on the way to the audition was in an automobile accident and was unable to attend. Due to the fact that the Dixie Chicks were already under contract in Nashville and could not wait for Feather to audition, they hired other musicians.
